Bhurji would not confirm his next move, but industry sources suggested he is headed to a major internet brand.
Bhurji joined Hotwire in 2000, when the tech firm was still in its nascent phase.
Bhurji said: ‘It’s been fantastic winning and working on campaigns for amazing brands such as Tiscali. After seven years and still only 28, I will be thinking hard about my next PR role in the digital media space.’
Last week it emerged that Drew Benvie, the well-known blogger and social-media expert at Lewis, is to join Hotwire in a similar role (PRWeek, 22 June).
Earlier this year, the agency hired Simon Hill, former UK tech director at Trimedia Harrison Cowley, as UK business development director.
Hotwire clients include BlackBerry, Thales e-security and domain name manager NetNames.
Hotwire has yet to announce a replacement.
