Youth specialist agency Making Waves Communications has been appointed to target students with the message that scouting is cool and fun. It will also push the message that scouting gives volunteers the opportunity to try activities such as watersports.
Making Waves CEO Matt Williams said: ‘We believe there is a real opportunity to recruit volunteers from within the student market.’
With more than 30,000 men and women on waiting lists to join the Scouts, several thousand volunteers are needed.
Making Waves’s strategy will include taking student press on bespoke trips to the World Scout Jamboree this summer.
The UK Scout Association retains Luther Pendragon as its general UK consumer agency.
