... But as one begins another row ends

In a similarly snipey vein, avid Diary readers will recall last week's contretemps between sponsorship agency Karen Earl, which claims it worked on a Sunday Times article concerning legendary seaman Sir Robert Knox-Johnston, and sports PR agency Pitch PR, which claims Karen Earl did not.

Since last week, a plethora of emails relating to the article have reached Diary's desk, indicating Karen Earl was not signed-up at the time the interview was arranged.

'The display is representative of the work we do,' wriggled Karen Earl director Dominic Curran. 'I can't believe they're pursuing this.'

But the comms director of the Velux 5 Oceans race, which the 67-year-old sailor entered, also weighed in: 'It was definitely Pitch's coup d'etat,' she insisted.

On this militaristic note, it is probably best to call an end to the saga, which coincidentally, is the name of the insurance firm that brought in Karen Earl in the first place.
