Tension mounts in Manc squabble ...

Bitching, brickbats, law suits and mud-slinging - the Manchester PR scene is nothing if not lively. The gossip mill was turning furiously this week, following a spat between recently-launched Vertigo PR and founder Nathalie Bagnall's former consultancy Communique.

The North West media blog 'How-Do' reported that Communique MD Nigel Sarbutts had employed law firm Hammonds to write to Bagnall and ask her to remove references to Communique clients from her website. The two agencies then squabbled over who leaked the legal letter: 'I'm pleased a competitor has chosen to draw attention to their own practices, which I view as questionable. That's up to them,' said Sarbutts.

Over in camp Bagnall, the line is a little different: 'I've just started a business,' said Bagnall, before adding the Basil Fawlty-esque. 'He started it - he sent me the letter.'
