Martin Arnold has been appointed private equity correspondent for the Financial Times replacing Peter Smith.

Katherine Butler
is the new foreign editor of The Independent. She replaces Leonard Doyle who is now the US editor based in Washington.

The Daily Mail has appoin­ted David Derbyshire as environment editor. He joins from The Daily Telegraph where he was consumer affairs editor.

Look magazine has appointed Helen Roberts as deputy features editor. She was formerly real-life editor at More and replaces Rosie Mullender.

Heather Stewart has been promoted to economics editor of The Observer. She was previously economics correspondent.

The Independent on Sunday has switched from multi­section format into one newspaper and one maga­zine. The paper has been rede­signed, with a new app­roach to presenting stories and graphics.

James Salmon has joined the Daily Mail as personal finance reporter for Money Mail. He moved from Money Marketing where he was deputy news editor.

Nick Jordan is now editor of ArtsProfess­ional magazine. He replaces Liz Hill who has become a consultant editor to the magazine. Lindsey Cox has also been appointed as deputy editor.

Kate Turner
has become beauty editor at Cosmo­politan. She was previously beauty editor at NW.

Gaelle Walker has joined Convenience Store as a senior reporter. She was formerly a reporter at The Grocer.

Redactive Media Group has appointed Melody Bartlett as editor of its The Marketer, the magazine it publishes for the Chartered Institute of Marketing. She is a former deputy editor of Business Voice, the CBI’s magazine.

Joanne Atkinson has been appointed deputy features editor at Prima magazine. She replaces Carrie Buckle who has become features editor for the magazine.

Susannah Gowers
has joined The Liberal Magazine as deputy editor, replacing Adi Drori-Avraham. She will take particular responsibility for commissioning new short fiction and expanding The Literary Circle, the magazine’s event wing.


Mark Donaldson has joined Talk Radio as Scottish sports correspondent for TalkSport and head of sport at Talk107 in Edinburgh.

Metro Radio has appointed Gordon Boag as head of news and sport. He was head of news at Saga Radio in Glasgow and has replaced Justin Lockwood.

Shane O’Connor is taking over the BBC Radio Derby breakfast show with the new time-slot of 7–10am. Aleena Naylor takes over the mid-morning show.


George Hay has become news editor at breaking­ He replaces Una Galani.

Anthony Barnes has been appointed online editor for newly launched digital radio service theJazz. The station is the sister service to Classic FM. He was a former arts and media corr­espon­dent for Indepen­dent on Sunday.
