Ailling Citigate Public Affairs to merge with Grayling

Struggling lobbying shop Citigate Public Affairs is to be merged into Grayling Political Strategy.

Huntsworth-owned Citigate has been decimated by an exodus of senior staff in the past two years and Luther Pendragon founder George Pitcher was recently called in to devise a rescue plan.

Grayling UK slid down to 25th in this year’s PRWeek Top 150 Consultancies after registering a 15 per cent decline in its overall fee income.

The newly merged public affairs consultancy will have 40 staff in Europe and will be managed by Grayling Political Strategy chief executive Vivien Hepworth. Citigate deputy MD Jonathan Roberts will become a board director.

Citigate became part of Huntsworth’s Global Consulting Group (GCG) in April 2005.

GCG’s New York-based CEO Richard Wolff told PRWeek: ‘We’ve been in the midst of a thorough review of our strategic priorities in the London market: . As the first step in this review, we decided that it made business sense for us to dispose of the CPA business.’
