Cadburys recruits as job cuts loom

Cadbury Schweppes has taken on a corporate responsibility manager amid speculation that a fresh round of job cuts could be imminent.

The confectionery giant has hired Alison Ward, a former associate director at Hill & Knowlton.

Ward starts next week and one of her first tasks is likely to be dealing with the fallout from the expected announcement on 19 June of a multi-million-pound cost-cutting initiative involving factory closures, job cuts and a move from the company’s central London offices.

Ward will report to director of corporate responsibility Alex Cole. Most recently, she was comms director at the Biscuit, Cake, Chocolate and Confectionery Association, which is yet to decide how to replace her.
