Alan Twigg, director at Seventy Seven PR argues that Britain’s regions are experiencing a renaissance, and that some PR agencies are foolishly ignoring regional power.
In this week’s podcast Twigg says that, while ‘you hear a lot about globalisation’ where media consumption and technological developments are concerned, research shows that people increasingly ‘find comfort in their local communities’ and are looking to build a life ‘within two, three or four miles of their front door.’
He argues that Scottish devolution, the Welsh assembly and the ‘bitch fest’ around crowing Liverpool the European Capital of Culture 2008 are examples of the growing political, economic and cultural importance of the regions.
