Orbis nets Cronin to take dual role

Orbis, the eye charity best known for its converted DC-10 Flying Eye Hospital, has a appointed a new director of fundraising and communications.

Rebecca Cronin was formerly external relations director at sustainable development charity Panos London. She will develop an integrated fundraising and comms strategy to support Orbis’s work to eliminate avoidable blindness in the developing world.

Cronin said: ‘I will help to drive forward Orbis’ programmes focusing on preventing childhood blindness and improving access to eye care for rural communities, in countries such as Ethiopia, India, Bangladesh, China and Vietnam.’

Cronin replaces head of comms Megan Munsell and head of fundraising Shimon Jordan in a combination of their two former roles.
