Pattison takes on Coke - and wins

Diary is happy to share the story of agency Global Tolerance's newest recruit, Stephen Pattison. The former National Council for Voluntary Organisations man has a background in human rights and, according to his CV, he has 'taken on Coca-Cola - and won'.

Pattison plays bass in the intriguingly-named 7 Seconds of Love. Last year, the band received word that their song Ninja and its accompanying animated kitten-filled video were being plastered across South American TV. The band was astonished to find its work had been ripped off and repackaged as an advert for Coca-Cola.

Rather than let it go, the band took on Coca-Cola, finally winning an out-of-court settlement in January.

'Our lawyers told us "bargain hard", so we asked for Coke to pay for a huge charity concert in Hyde Park,' recalls Pattison with a smirk. An 'undisclosed sum' was agreed and they donated most of the proceeds to charity.
