The Independent has appointed Julian Coman as news editor. Coman moves from deputy news editor and replaces Danny Groom.
Marc Horne has joined Scotland on Sunday as senior reporter. He was previously a reporter with The Sunday Times.
Lee Hayhurst has been appointed news editor of the Travel Trade Gazette. He joins the magazine in July from Travel Weekly. Acting news editor Robin Searle will move across to become features editor.
Rosemary Mullender has been appointed senior writer at Cosmopolitan magazine. Mullender was previously deputy features editor of Look magazine. She replaces Nicole Mowbray, who has left the title to join the Daily Mail.
Julia Bradfield has been appointed editor of The Builder magazine, replacing Tom Blackett.
Adam Banks has taken up the reins as editor of Dennis Publishing’s Computer Buyer magazine. Banks is an experienced consumer IT journalist and he has worked on the monthly title in the past. He replaces Julian Prokaza, who has moved across to edit Dennis’s Mobile Computing magazine.
Hattie Brett has been promoted from editorial assistant to features writer on Grazia magazine. She is replaced as editorial assistant by Nina Baglin.
Geoff Ho is joining the Sunday Express as a reporter with responsibility for the financial and gaming sectors. He has previously worked as companies reporter for Shares magazine.
Anna Czerny has joined Drapers as senior reporter. She is covering maternity leave for Pam Tate and hails from Promotions Buyer, where she was deputy editor.
Deirdre Hipwell has become deputy news editor of Property Week, a promotion from the role of global correspondent. Her beat will include the City, Docklands, government & public policy and Ireland.
Haymarket’s Eve magazine has seen several promotions in its fashion team. Elizabeth Cocozza has been promoted to fashion and style director. Acting fashion editor Jo Guy has been appointed senior fashion editor, and Filiz Djafer has been promoted to junior fashion editor.
The BBC’s Washington correspondent James Westhead is to return to the UK to take up a fresh posting within the broadcaster’s social affairs unit. From September he will assume the role of education and social affairs correspondent.
Clare Riley has joined Dewberry Redpoint as web editor of costsectorcatering.co.uk and eatoutmagazine.co.uk. The sites have been recently launched in support of existing print publications.
Katrina Baugh has joined IFAonline as its new editor. Baugh moves across from the post of deputy editor on Professional Adviser. She replaces Julie Hendersen, who left earlier in the year to become news and online editor at IPE.com (Investment Pensions Europe).
Laurelle Gilbert has become fashion and celebrity editor for elleuk.com. She joins from New Woman magazine, where she held the post of fashion news editor. Gilbert’s duties at elleuk.com will also include the editing of daily news and fashion content.
