Threepipe pushes green car insurance policies

Threepipe has won a brief to promote a new eco-friendly car insurance brand that allows customers to offset 100 per cent of their carbon emissions.

The agency will help to position the  insurance scheme, which launches in June, as a green alternative to stopping driving completely.

Created by the Budget Group, Ibuyeco insurance is aimed at young families and people with an environmental conscience who are reluctant to give up their cars. The Budget Group will work with The Carbon Neutral Company to invest drivers’ cash in energy efficient and renewable energy projects.

The six-figure account runs until the end of the year. Threepipe director Jim Hawker said: ‘The car is central to some people’s existence. We want to reach those who feel passionate about the environment, but who still have the practical need of using a car.’

Threepipe will have to overcome criticism that carbon offsetting does not promote a change in behaviour as well as scepticism over the effectiveness of such schemes.
