The charity has teamed up with Filminute, the international one-minute online film festival. It hopes the collaboration will raise awareness of green issues by bringing them to a wider audience
Friends of the Earth will target film students, production companies and the general public through press and popular blogs.
A shortlist of 25 films will be drawn up and these will be voted on in September by a panel of experts including Lord Puttnam and Andrew Macdonald. The general public will also be asked to vote via YouTube. The films will then be used by the charity to raise awareness through virals.
Communications media officer Claire Weir said: ‘The competition will give us an opportunity to get other people’s perspective on the green debate.’
