Former Swedish PM set to join JKL

The former prime minister of Sweden is joining a Nordic lobbying firm as a senior advisor.

Göran Persson will join JKL, part of Manning Selvage & Lee, in August. The agency has offices in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland as well a recently opened Brussels office.

Persson served as PM of Sweden between 1996 and 2006 and was president of the European Council during the country’s presidency of the EU in 2001. He said: ‘I am excited about participating in public life from a new perspective. The kind of advisory services that JKL provides are becoming increasingly important for corporations and organisations, and I look forward to offering my experience and knowledge.’

Anders Lindberg, CEO of JKL Sweden, said the ex-PM’s strengths were ‘his broad, personal knowledge of issues like climate change, European relations with Russia, and the challenges to the welfare state’.
