Grant Butler Coomber grabs copier contract

Technology giant Toshiba has brought in Grant Butler Coomber to boost its profile in the office equipment sector.

The agency has landed an account with Toshiba Tec UK Imaging Systems, the company’s office equipment division, to promote its office equipment and ‘document management’ technologies.

The company is a major provider of laser printers, copiers, faxes, and document managers capable of sending, sharing and creating files within workplaces.

It is the first time Toshiba Tec UK Imaging Systems has drafted in a PR firm for its external comms activities.

Grant Butler Coomber director Daniel Couzens said he wanted the company’s products to become focus points within offices. ‘The copier can become the new water cooler, the centre of the office where people gather,’ he said.

The company is looking to raise its profile as a provider of document management technology, explained Couzens. ‘Toshiba has already had a lot of success in the education sector developing solutions for schools that want to scan in lots of documents,’ he claimed.

The agency will target trade publications and national TV and newspapers. Couzens said: ‘We’re looking at IT and office equipment publications, but also newspapers like The Guardian and The Times whose supplements often look at office life.’

Toshiba Corporation is headquartered in Tokyo, and is one of the world’s largest integrated manufacturers of electric and electronic equipment.
