Fuel brings scrub to the high street

Fuel PR is handling the imminent consumer launch of Hibiscrub – the handwash brand previously marketed as an anti-MRSA agent.

The product will be sold in Boots’ high street stores.

Hibiscrub, manufactured by Mölnlycke Health Care, is readily available in hospitals. But selling it over the counter marks a departure.

HSD Communications holds the brief to promote Hibiscrub to medical professionals. The agency has worked with Mölnlycke since 2001 on various brands including surgical gloves, drapes and gowns for operating theatres.

Mölnlycke specialises in single-use surgical and wound care products such as TubiGrip bandages.

aunched in 1998, it was acquired from Nordic Capital by Apax in July 2005.

The latter deal merged Regent – the maker of Hibiscrub – with Mölnlycke to form the new group. It has 5,500 staff worldwide, with UK sites in Irlam, near Manchester and Dunstable.
