BBQ Association releases H&K after three months

The National BBQ Association and Hill & Knowlton have parted ways after just three months.

H&K secured the consumer brief earlier this year (PRWeek, 14 March) but last week cut ties with the organisation.

Storm Communications, which has been working on the trade brief, has now absorbed the consumer account.

It will be headed up by MD Amanda Williams, who said: ‘Our new responsibilities will include running a press office, implementing a media relations strategy to publicise National BBQ Week and supporting the sponsors and activity for the summer-long campaign.'

NBA president Brian George said: ‘As our campaign evolved, the crossover in activities between the two agencies became confusing. We decided it would be better to use one agency and, as trade support is such a massive part of the campaign, it made sense to use Storm.' He added: ‘H&K were great.'

A H&K spokesperson said: ‘It is a totally amicable split. We advised them it was best to consolidate their PR support and we wish them all the best.'
