Amazon to aid official recycling drive

The government-funded body to promote sustainable development has brought in Amazon PR as its first agency hire.

The Sustainable Development Research Network (SDRN) has called in the agency to develop and implement a three-year strategy.

Amazon aims to raise awareness of the network among policy-makers, strategists and practitioners within central and local government. SDRN is funded by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.

Account director Adrian Thomas, who leads the brief, said: ‘We will be looking at how parts of government operate to help it become more efficient in terms of recycling and carbon usage'.

He added that because sustainable development has become a major issue, there is a need for decisions taken in SDRN's name to be informed by robust research.

Amazon is to launch SDRN's website for professionals in the research, government, NGO and business sectors in April.
