Borne out of demand by those unable to attend the traditionally taught course, the Online Diploma aims to enable a larger number of people access to the same training. The first course will start on 4 June.
CIPR director general Colin Farrington said: ‘The CIPR is committed to raising professional standards. We also lead in the methods we use to deliver training opportunities.'
Students will be supported by a personal tutor via email and will have to attend two face-to-face lecture and workshop sessions throughout the year.
Studying for the Online Diploma will cost £2,100 plus VAT. The price is similar to the traditional diploma, which costs students between £2,000 and £2,400.
