Book giant eyes sale of UK brands

Borders UK is on the brink of hiring its first retained consumer PR agency as it faces a potential sale.

The high-street bookseller wants an agency to create a brand-building campaign for its Borders and Books etc brands.

Frank PR and Paratus Communications are understood to be in the running.

Borders marketing manager Meg Seymour confirmed: ‘We are reviewing our PR strategy for 2007.'

After a tough year, US-based Borders Group Inc is using Merrill Lynch to come up with ‘strategic options' for its international businesses.
