Tech companies earn web praise

Tech and healthcare companies show the greatest commitment to the quality of their online press offices, accor­ding to a new survey.

Siemens, Cisco Systems, AstraZeneca and Roche score the highest in the study, by website effectiveness specialist Bowen Craggs. The company studied the websites of the top 60 FTSE 100 companies - the top 20 from each of the US, Europe and the rest of the world.

The four companies that topped the list scored well primarily because of the sophis­tication of the data­bases that filter press releases and diverse media contact lists.

By contrast, the media section of one of the worst-scoring companies, Johnson & Johnson, lists 1,223 ­releases with no search facility and off­ers no media contacts.
