Letter - Candidates can also lie during interviews

Sinead Hasson makes several worthwhile points (Letters, 2 March) concerning the morale-sapping gap that can exist between the job described at interview stage and the real nature of that role.

Yet while consultancies should avoid overpromising, candidates are also duty bound to represent themselves accurately. We interviewed several people recently who we later found had falsified their information and lied.

Not exaggeration, but downright lies - about past positions and their skills.

Needless to say, their applications were unsuccessful.
