ISP Claranet set for comms hike

Internet service provider Claranet has taken on its first UK PR agency - London-based Parker, Wayne & Kent - after a competitive pitch.

The ISP is planning its first big PR push, including media and analyst relations, online PR and event support, after 12 years in business.

Privately owned Claranet has grown rapidly in recent years, buying Netscalibur in 2003, Via Networks UK in 2004, and the latter's Portuguese, Dutch and American operations in 2005.

The contract is UK-only. Fees are undisclosed.

laranet marketing manager Clare Abbam said Parker, Wayne & Kent was chosen for its ‘knowledge of the industry' and ‘ability to dedicate a senior individual to manage our account'.
