Ethics debate: do not take pride in lying ..

I was dismayed by the result of the PRWeek ethics debate ('The truth hurts', 2 March).

I believe that after ten years of New Labour 'spin', PR practitioners have never been more despised.

'We are all liars now' is how one might sum up the prevailing public perception.

To survive as a useful marketing tool, it is a necessity that PR should be seen as a truthful medium: if we cannot rescue our reputation for honesty, we have no commercial future.
