Steve Bloomfield has left Beat - formerly the Eating Disorders Association - to join the hospice group as marketing and communications manager.
He reports to managing director Graham Butland and director of fundraising Melanie Chew.
Bloomfield said: ‘Many people think that a hospice is where someone comes just to die, which used to be true, but now the work is more varied and we go into people's homes to provide care and provide up to three years of counselling.'
Bloomfield joins East Anglia Children's Hospices after eight years at the eating disorders group, where he won a British Medical Association award for a booklet aimed at young people.
East Anglia Children's Hospices operates in Norfolk, Cambridgeshire and Suffolk. It is funded partly by the NHS.
