Preston prepares for music festival

Preston City Council has teamed up with BBC Radio 1 to promote its Big Weekend Event festival in May.

The council's in-house communications team, led by head of comms Stephen Parkinson, is organising a series of public meetings to consult on the management of matters such as car parking and noise.

Leaflets are also being distributed across the region.

The council is planning a blog to reveal a ‘behind-the-scenes snapshot' of how the event is being organised.

Big Weekend will be Europe's largest free music festival, with organisers predicting 30,000 visitors.

It has previously taken place in Dundee.
