As NHS comms manager, Linda Smith will help grow business and counsel existing clients on the reform of the health service.
She joins from Ashford Primary Care Trust, where she was project manager.
‘Interaction created the position given the rapid reform of the NHS,' she said.
Areas on which she will advise include practice-based commissioning and the Quality and Outcomes Framework, which gives performance-related bonus funding to surgeries.
‘There is a real gap between the way in which healthcare companies work and how Primary Care Trusts operate,' said Interaction MD Karen Rowe. ‘They want to work together but are cautious of each other.'
Reporting to Rowe, Smith will draw on her policy knowledge to influence comms strategy. It is her first PR role.
During her time at Ashford PCT, Smith provided research for a report on the reduction of emergency admissions for the elderly, recently published by the Department of Health.
