Bausch & Lomb picks Tonic Life for Euro brief

Bausch & Lomb has pulled its European account out of Euro RSCG Biss Lancaster and handed the business to Tonic Life Communications.

The eye-care company's move comes around a year after Tonic lured Yvonne Mitchell from Biss Lancaster to a senior account director role (PRWeek, 4 May 2006). Mitchell was a key figure on the Bausch & Lomb European account when at Biss Lancaster, where she worked for six years.

Bausch & Lomb had a pan-European relationship with Biss Lancaster for more than a decade and continues to work with the agency on some UK-specific projects.

The company hit the headlines last year when it carried out a worldwide recall of one of its contact-lens cleaning products, Moisture Loc, after it was linked to a dangerous eye fungus. Biss Lancaster advised the firm.

Tonic's brief includes consumer and trade PR as well as issues management.
