Iraq security firm plots comms hire

An armed private security company that works in Iraq is secretly hunting for a global comms chief.

Global Strategies Group, which famously closed down Baghdad airport in 2005 in a standoff with the Iraq government over pay, has brought in headhunter Bird & Co to conduct the search.

This month the group demonstrated its ambition by hiring John Hillen, assistant secretary of state for political-military affairs in the Bush administration, as president.

Global refused to comment on the search, saying a statement ‘would affect the sensitivity of its operations'.
