CORPORATE Omnicom, which owns Porter Novelli, Ketchum, Fleishman-Hillard and Gavin Anderson, made post-tax profits of £445m in 2006 - an increase of 9.3 per cent on the previous year. It recorded a ten per cent growth in PR revenues.

CONSUMER Leeds-based agency Ptarmigan is to handle regional PR for Virgin Media. The agency worked with NTL Telewest before its merger with Virgin Mobile and subsequent rebranding to Virgin Media. News analysis .

CORPORATE The first head of PR at commercial radio body RadioCentre has left after less than six months in the job. Darren Kalynuk has been replaced by Jill Drew, previously director of PR at music industry organisation PPL.

AGENCY Fishburn Hedges has appointed Tesco corporate affairs manager (convenience) Julie McGuckian as an associate director. Before Tesco, McGuckian spent four years in comms at the Department of Trade & Industry. Tesco is recruiting a replacement.

AGENCY Hair-care brand GHD has hired Flint, the agency set up by Harriet Evans, former comms director at Toni & Guy (PRWeek, 29 Sep). Flint will target trade and consumer hair press. Revolver continues to hold GHD's creative account. Essence PR was the incumbent.

CONSUMER Irish regional airline Aer Arann has hired its first agency support as it prepares to open new UK routes this summer. Rooster won a four-way pitch for the business.

AGENCY Women's fashion brand Jacques Vert has hired Yellowdoor to handle press and PR for its four brands: Jacques Vert, Planet, Precis Petite and Windsmoor.
