Real Madrid to name comms chief

MADRID: Spanish football giants Real Madrid are on the verge of appointing a new PR supremo.

A spokeswoman for the club confirmed that Enrique Beotas was being considered for the position of communications and institutional relations director. She denied reports that the appointment had taken place and that Beotas will begin his duties on 17 February.

‘We are considering this appointment and will be notifying the press as soon as we have something official,' she said.

An official at Jurcam Producciones, the Madrid radio news producer where Beotas is vice-president, declined to comment.

The move to find a new PR chief comes as former England captain David Beckham prepares to leave Real to join LA Galaxy.
