Poll: fashion and anorexia linked

LONDON: Nearly 90 per cent of people believe there is a clear link between the fashion industry and eating disorders, according to a PRWeek poll.

The news will come as a blow to an industry fighting calls to legislate on the size of catwalk models during its flagship event - London Fashion Week (LFW).

Opinion Matters polled 1,380 people, with 89 per cent believing there was a link between the industry and conditions such as anorexia and bulimia - particularly in relation to teenage girls.

Last month, Talk PR resigned the LFW account after 16 years. LFW organiser the British Fashion Council replaced Talk with Manchester-based agency Crush Communications (PRWeek, 19 January).
