Ex-Tory aide nets Communiqué job

LONDON: Political consultancy Communiqué has appointed a former aide to ex-shadow trade minister Crispin Blunt as its second-in-command.

David McFarlane joins the Victoria-based outfit from planning PA consultancy Green Issues. He joins as account director, reporting to managing director Richard Sutcliffe-Smith.

McFarlane spent two years at Green Issues as senior account manager and team leader.

In 2001, he stood unsuccessfully for the Conservatives in the seat of West Bromwich East, polling 26 per cent of the vote.

Communiqué also hired Kristy Armstrong, previously senior researcher and policy adviser for the Liberal Democrat MP Jo Swinson.
