The Manchester-based group has spent £1.59m on Cabinet Stewart, a 12-strong EU affairs specialist. It comes less than a year after Hasgrove acquired Interel, another EU public affairs business (PRWeek, 5 May 2006).
The agencies will merge to become one of the largest PA consultancies in Brussels.
Hasgrove CEO Rod Hyde said: ‘This merger will create a leadership position in the market for EU public affairs consultancy services.’
He added that building up capacity in EU public affairs was a major part of Hasgrove’s plan to create a pan-European comms group.
Hasgrove also owns Manchester agency Connectpoint and design agency The Chase. The holding firm is led by Godfrey Taylor, former senior partner at accountancy firm Deloitte.
