According to Alexa.com, Edelman.com is the 60,156th most-viewed site on the net. Burson-Marsteller’s site, in 126,237th, is the next most popular, followed by those of Hill & Knowlton and Weber Shandwick.
Edelman’s site entered the top 20,000 last October after the agency’s involvement in fake blog ‘Wal-Marting Across America’ (PRWeek, 20 October 2006).
The world’s biggest PR agencies inevitably get the most website hits, according to Alexa.com, but some smaller agencies seem to punch above their weight. For example, US firm Connors Communications is in 85,815th place, making it one of the most-visited agency websites worldwide.
Among UK consultancies, Bell Pottinger, Financial Dynamics and Fishburn Hedges are grouped reasonably closely, but the poorest relative performance is that of Freud Communications.
Freud.com, in 4,298,847th, is behind the website of Inverness Caledonian Thistle supporters (1,377,129th) and the fan site of Shakin’ Stevens (2,832,282th).
The CIPR is ranked 586,783th, putting it inside the top 25 most-viewed PR websites in the world.
Bizarrely, entering Frank PR’s details into Alexa results in information concerning the Independent Doctors Forum.
