The PCT will target smokers in the areas with the highest rates of cardiovascular disease. Timed to coincide with the government ban on smoking in enclosed public areas, it will seek to change the behaviour of those living in ‘hotspots’ of bad health.
In-house PROs will work with the PCT’s smoking cessation manager and public health specialists.
PROs also plan to carry out research via one-to-one interviews in the street.
‘This campaign aims to find out why people stop smoking and use that knowledge to make a real difference,’ said a spokesman.
