PRWeek understands the new brief is larger than the one handed to FD two years ago, when it was hired to target UK analysts, investors and financial media (PRWeek, 22 January 2005).
‘We’re looking for one main PR support for all of our activities in the UK market,’ said Fortis director of corporate communications Wilfried Remans.
Many of the City’s big comms players have been sounded out for the brief, according to a source. FD declined to comment.
The main business of Fortis in the UK is insurance.
The company provides a range of personal and small-package commercial insurance products.
Fortis last year poached Visa’s head of marketing strategy and comms to oversee a consumer campaign and act as corporate comms head (PRWeek, 13 Jan 2006). Adrian Martorana joined as general manager of comms, replacing Eric Bouwmee-ster, who has become CSR general manager.
