Holocaust library plans media hire

The world's oldest resource dedicated to the Holocaust and Nazi Germany is creating its first press and PR function amid a multi-million- pound fundraising drive.

The Wiener Library’s lease on its London HQ expires in 2009, and it has embarked on a £3.5m fundraising drive to build new premises.

Chairman Anthony Spiro said awareness of the library – which houses 70,000 books, 20,000 photographs and two million press cuttings – was ‘virtually non-existent’ outside academic circles, so it had created a marketing and press relations officer post.

The new PRO will report to director Ben Barkow.
