Exams body set for agency hire

Newcastle-based qualification body NCFE is on the hunt for an agency, two months after it appointed a new chief executive.

Former Food & Drink Qualifications CEO David Grailey said he wanted to enhance the group’s reputation as a ‘customer-driven awarding body’.

NCFE director of business development Alasdair Downes said he planned to appoint an agency within three weeks.

NCFE, a name derived from the Northern Council for Further Education, has a reputation for awarding diverse certifications. Last year it launched a new range of qualifications aimed at aspiring music technicians, DJs and MCs.

Earlier this year the body teamed up with The Press Association to unveil a qualification in media management for PA staff who have completed the company’s internal training programme.

Six media managers at PA have so far been awarded the Certificate in Media Management.
