Baxter exits College Hill role

Standard Chartered Bank has recruited College Hill's Tim Baxter to the new global role of head of external comms.

Baxter, who joined College Hill two years ago, will start work at the bank  before the end of the month. He will report to group head of corporate affairs Romy Murray.

Baxter is one of the senior members of College Hill’s 12-strong corporate team. He said the department was recruiting, although not for a direct replacement, ‘because it is looking to grow’.

One recent recruit to College Hill’s corporate team is Terence Gibbons, former head of news at the Office of Fair Trading, who joined the financial comms agency last month.

Gibbons left the OFT in September last year before joining College Hill as a senior account director. He reports to founder Alex Sandberg and will work on its Voca and Harvey Nash accounts.

At the OFT, Gibbons has been replaced on an interim basis by press officer Alex Hunter. Hunter is working under former head of publicity Sue Cook, who is currently interim communications director.

Cook is filling the shoes of Mike Ricketts, who retired last summer (PRWeek, 13 July 2006).

College Hill is in acquisitive mood following Richard Nichols’ arrival as CEO last May. The agency also snared Citigate Public Affairs’s Warwick Smith to lead PA  (PRWeek, 20 October).
