Seafood industry bids for 'balance'

Edinburgh-based industry body Seafish is mounting a comms offensive to ‘bring some balance' to media coverage of the fishing industry.

The group is to use start-up Stripe Communications, also based in Edinburgh, to highlight the ‘sustainable and responsible practices’ in the sector.

‘This is the most important thing we’re doing this year,’ said Seafish head of comms Louise Keane. ‘We have previously done this work in-house, but felt we wanted a specialist.’

Stripe is working on a four-month contract, after which there will be a review and tender process. Its brief focuses on national and regional press and broadcast media.

The agency won the business after a pitch against two other agencies.

Seafish continues to use 3x1 Communications to promote the health benefits of omega-3 essential fatty acids found in fish oils.
