Education group 157 uses AS Biss

AS Biss & Co has been brought in to advise a fledgling campaigning group of the UK's largest further education colleges.

The 157 group, whose membership is drawn from more than 20 institutions, was officially launched this week in the presence of Education Secretary Alan Johnson.

The group – which takes its name from paragraph 157 of the Foster report on further education – is lobbying for certain colleges to be able to award their own part-time foundation degrees, rather than having to award them in conjunction with universities.

Proposals to this effect are contained in clause 19 of the Government’s Further Education and Training Bill – currently being considered in the House of Lords.

AS Biss has a number of other clients in the education sector, including English UK, a body that represents English language colleges in Britain.
