The post – held in its previous guise by Becky Drake, who joined the London Communications Agency last autumn (PRWeek, 14 Sep 2006) – has been filled by civil servant Crissy Farrugia.
The remit has been widened to include logistics, personnel and response exercises.
‘This is not about reducing comms but taking into account what the LRT needs, such as response training,’ Farrugia said.
Reporting to the LRT’s acting director Lorraine Shepherd, Farrugia has responsibility for one person, comms manager Arthur Fleming.
The LRT operates within the civil service and provides the link between central and local government, and other partners in London.
Although its initial focus was preparing for a terrorist attack, it is now involved in planning for a wide range of emergencies, such as pandemic flu and severe weather conditions.
