Activity surrounding its annual Poppy Appeal began long before Remembrance Sunday on 12 November, with the October launch by opera singer Kathryn Jenkins gaining 262 mentions (PRWeek, 10 Nov).
But the charity eclipsed second-placed Children in Need (438 mentions) - the legion did not even make the NGO Watch top ten in November 2005.
Friends of the Earth fell to third despite 23 more mentions than in October.
But it had a busy month, with a protest over UK plans for GM-potato trials, and celebrations over the scuppering of Stansted Airport's expansion project. Vice-chair Tony Juniper, meanwhile, was granted a one-on-one debate with Tony Blair.
The RSPCA came fourth (327 mentions), and Amnesty International moved up to fifth after a report into violence against women.
Oxfam (ninth) increased coverage to 239 mentions.
