The move comes as the body strives to boost the status of PR among senior corporate executives.
‘Membership of the LCCI is about making other professions aware of what PR is and the contribution it makes to business,' said CIPR director-general Colin Farrington.
Assistant director-general Francis Ingham has already been courting LCCI members. ‘Membership has already been beneficial to us in terms of making contacts and getting insight into how PR can work with other industries,' he said.
The LCCI represents around 3,500 businesses, and is headquartered in the City of London.
