Kirsten Gogan is currently on the planning think-tank's senior management team as comms manager. She will be a partner at Futerra, heading a three-strong team focusing on climate change.
Gogan said the UK was beginning to face up to the reality of climate change and look seriously for solutions.
‘Communications expertise is a crucial, but as yet under-exploited, element in achieving the necessary shift to a more sustainable society,' she said. ‘My task will be to communicate new services in the environmental field to consumers and policy makers.'
She replaces Mark McKenzie, who left in October to become MD of William Murray PR.
Since joining the TCPA in 2005, Gogan's role has revolved around positioning the group as a thought leader on climate change, sustainable housing and renewable energy. She has overseen its online operations and all media relations.
Before the TCPA, she was a senior press officer in the Office of the Deputy PM, working on John Prescott's Sustainable Communities Plan. Before she departs in December, one of Gogan's key tasks is to oversee a TCPA comms review and rebranding exercise.
