Its move is as part of the Scottish Executive's Hungry for Success initiative aimed at improving youngsters' diets.
The authority is inviting agencies to tender for a brief to promote the quality, choice, value and health benefits of its school catering. The campaign will target 12 schools in the city.
The move is designed to raise awareness of the benefits of healthy eating, encourage kids to eat school meals and ‘create a high-street feel' in dining rooms.
‘This is particularly relevant in our city centre secondary schools where there are numerous fast-food outlets nearby,' said the council in a statement.
The appointed agency will be asked to create a corporate identity for the school catering service, create promotional literature, and design a reward scheme to recognise healthy eating.
