NHS commended at AHC ceremony

The NHS Security Management Service scooped the top prize at the Association of Healthcare Communicators' (AHC) annual awards.

The ‘Your choice of treatment' campaign warned patients that violence against staff would not be tolerated. ‘The pilot campaign took place in Leicester and it is hoped it will now be rolled out nationally,' said media relations manager Darren Aldridge.

Buckinghamshire Shared Services head of comms Gill Hodgetts was named Communicator of the Year. Nottingham City Primary Care Trust took the Comms Team of the Year gong.

The awards - presented by AHC chair Lucy Betterton and BBC broadcaster Simon McCoy - are open to in-house and agency comms professionals in the health and social care sectors. Judges included DoH director of comms Matt Tee and Leeds University PR programme director Anne Gregory.
