Olympics 2012 body names media chief

The Olympic Delivery Authority - charged with establishing London's Games infrastructure by 2012 - has installed Tom Curry as its first head of media.

The ODA came under fire two weeks ago when former chairman Jack Lemley told journalists he had quit on 18 October because of frustration at lack of progress.

Curry joined from Weber Shandwick, where he was an associate director in its corporate communications practice for two years, reporting to MD Michael Prescott.

He now reports to director of comms Godric Smith. Former No 10 press aide Smith joined in February as interim director of communications (PRWeek, 17 Feb), and has now been made the ODA's permanent comms chief.

Before WS, Curry worked at the Department for Education and the DTI.
