Isle of Wight Council's top PRO departs

The Isle of Wight's top communicator, Stephanie Light, has quit the authority amid a PR shake-up.

Details on her departure are limited, but in a statement the council said the PR manager had left ‘by mutual consent'.

Comms officer Claire Robertson has been promoted into the newly created position of acting deputy head of PR.

The Isle of Wight Council will continue to be aided by Westminster's comms team until February 2007, when the contract will be reviewed. Leading the team is Westminster head of marcoms Julia Corkey.

Robertson has been a comms officer for the island since 2005, and in her new role will report to Corkey, who in turn reports to Isle of Wight deputy chief executive John Lawson.

Previously, Robertson co-founded The Good Brand Works, a corporate social responsibility consultancy based in London.

Lawson said: ‘We want to meet the challenge set by the Audit Commission - to improve comms by building a strong local team to contribute to promoting the island.'
